Bandwidth feedback control of TCP and real time sources in the Internet

چکیده
This paper proposes a feedback-based algorithm for congestion control and bandwidth allocation in the presence of either TCP traffic or both TCP and real-time traffic. In this proposal, the network layer conveys bandwidth and propagation delay measurements to data sources, for instance using IPv6 optional fields. TCP sources use this bandwidthdelay product to control their congestion window, while video sources use the available bandwidth feedback to adjust their data sending rate. The experiments show that with this approach, the network achieves stable equilibrium, and users, either transmitting TCP traffic or real-time traffic, can share network resources fairly. Furthermore, since TCP sources learn about the available bandwidth independent of packet loss, there is no need to reduce the congestion window following a packet loss. This provides a way to improve TCP performance in wireless networks where it is difficult to distinguish between congestion loss and radio channel interference loss.

Design of H Congestion Controller for TCP Networks Based on LMI Formulation
In this paper, a state feedback H¥ controller is proposed in order to design an active queue management (AQM) system based on congestion control algorithm for networks supporting TCP protocols. In this approach, the available link bandwidth is modeled as a time-variant disturbance. The purpose of this paper is to design a controller which is capable of achieving the queue size and can guarantee...
متن کاملA new feedback streaming media congestion control algorithm
With the rapid development of Internet, streaming media applications are rapidly emerging. Network based on IP has become a streaming media distribution and transmission of the main platform. Streaming media transmission needs a certain quality of service QoS requirement. Nowadays, two main agreements on the transport layer are: TCP and UDP. TCP is the main transport protocol on the Internet, i...

متن کاملStreaming Video using Dynamic Rate Shaping and TCP Flow Control
We present a new technique for streaming real time video on today's Internet, based on dynamic rate shaping and TCP ow control. Dynamic rate shaping is a signal processing technique that adapts the rate of compressed video (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, H.26x) to dynamically varying bandwidth constraints. This provides an interface (or lter) between the source and the network, with which the encoder's output...
متن کاملProposal for Adaptive Bandwidth Allocation Using One-Way Feedback Control for MPLS Networks
In this research, we focused on fair bandwidth allocation on the Internet. The Internet provides communication services based on exchanged packets. The bandwidth available for each customer is often fluctuated. Fair bandwidth allocation is an important issue for ISPs to gain customer satisfaction. Static bandwidth allocation allows an exclusive bandwidth for specific traffic. Although it gives ...
